CLEAN
The limiter takes the lead.
The limiter handles all peak processing. This setting prioritizes sharp transient definition.

Push the loudness.
The drums lose punch.
The mix starts to distort.
More squash. No more impact.
Your ultimate weapon
against limiter frustration.

01 / A DIFFERENT APPROACH
The drums lose punch. The mix distorts. It gets more squashed, but never seems to cut through. A familiar frustration whenever you push for more loudness.
One reason is the way a limiter changes gain over time. Each hit pulls the mix down; the release lets it rise again. The harder you push, the more this movement can cloud the music.
Every kick hit pulls the vocal down with it. The balance you worked so hard to build starts to change.
AMATERAS Limiter Max hands the main job to a clipper.
Build loudness
with the clipper.
Let the limiter catch the peaks. That is the idea behind Limiter Max.
02 / CHARACTER
CHARACTER is at the center of the sound. Move from clean to rich, changing how the clipper and limiter share the work to find the right approach for your material.

Turn CHARACTER slowly and listen to the drum attacks and the way the whole mix holds together.
Do the hits still have definition? Does the vocal dip every time the kick lands?
Find the balance where the music moves forward as the loudness rises. This is the knob that takes you there.
CLEAN
The limiter handles all peak processing. This setting prioritizes sharp transient definition.
RICH
The clipper rounds off the tips of peaks as they happen. Build loudness while reducing the overall level movement associated with a limiter’s release.
Somewhere in between,
there is a sweet spot for your material.
03 / CLIP · LIMIT

CLIP shows how much the clipper is doing; LIMIT shows how much the limiter is doing. As you move CHARACTER, the meters reveal how the work is shared.
Watch both readouts as you adjust the knob. Listen to the drums and vocals at the same time, and connect the changes you hear with the processing you see.
There is no universal target number. Find what sounds right for your material, then use the meters to understand what is happening.
Find it by ear. Check it on the meters. That is how you find your sweet spot.
Raise the level entering the processor.
Adjust its role with CHARACTER.
A safety net for peaks that pass the clipper.
04 / THE FINAL SAFETY NET
A brickwall limiter with 2 ms of lookahead catches the peaks that make it through the clipper.
Choose AUTO release, which adapts to the transients in your material, or set a manual release from 10 to 1000 ms.
In TRUE PEAK mode, internal oversampling detects true peaks and keeps the output within your CEILING setting in dBTP.
LOUDNESS METERING
SHORT (3-second), INTEGRATED, and output dBTP are always visible. Check and adjust loudness on the panel using your delivery platform’s guidelines as a reference. Click INTEGRATED to reset it.
BIT-EXACT BYPASS
In bypass, the original input passes through bit for bit, aligned with the reported latency compensation. Verified to produce complete silence in a DAW null test.
Compare before and after without a timing offset. The panel’s BYPASS control and the DAW’s bypass button stay in sync.
05 / CONTROLS & PRESETS
Push the input level to control how hard the peak processing works.
Set the output ceiling.
Choose an adaptive release or set the release time manually.
Clean to rich. Adjust how clipping and limiting share the work.
Enable or disable true peak detection.
Choose the oversampling factor.
Dither and noise shaping for exporting at 24-bit resolution.
Bit-exact passthrough, linked to your DAW’s bypass control.
TWO STARTING POINTS
Two presets: Default, a clean reference point, and Sugarfields, the setting we use in our own mastering sessions.
UNDO
UNDO restores the values saved in the preset, so you can return to your starting point while you adjust.
06 / SPECIFICATIONS
Pro Tools (AAX) is not currently supported.
The installers are not yet code-signed. Windows SmartScreen or macOS Gatekeeper may display a warning when you first run them. Instructions are included in the README. Code signing is planned for a future update.
